Property Management Systems

PMS systems as the operational core of accommodation management.

A property management system connects each booking to the guest, the property and day-to-day operations. We treat it as the core of a wider travel technology system, rather than an isolated database.

What must a PMS understand?

01
ReservationDate, status, guests, price and rules of stay.
02
PropertyAccommodation unit, capacity, availability and operational context.
03
DistributionRelationship with Channel Manager, booking engine and sales channels.
04
OperationsWorkflows that continue after the booking is made.
Connected system

A PMS rarely works alone.

The value of PMS increases when it reliably exchanges data with distribution, booking platform, automation, payments and smart property components.

PMS decisions start with a process.

Read it when to develop a customised PMS system and difference between PMS and Channel Manager before deciding on a new system or integration.

A source of truth for bookings and operations

PMS should maintain a central reservation record throughout the entire lifecycle: enquiry, confirmation, change, stay, departure and exceptions. Guest, unit, status and operational task data remains linked so the team knows what needs to happen next, including housekeeping when part of the process.

With custom PMS, data ownership is determined first, followed by migration and integration of existing systems. Channel Manager distributes the current state, while booking engine uses the same operational source of truth without creating a second version of inventory.
